System layers allow you to distinguish between devices and circuits that are part of different groups within a project. The two most common system layers are for existing devices and for new devices, and are used primarily on remodel work. Design Master comes equipped with New and Existing. If these two layer options are not sufficient for your projects, you may create and edit system layer groups.
This section will focus on changing the system layer of a device already on a drawing.
To change the system layer:
DM Electrical
Modify DevicesChange Device System Layer
Design Master will ask you to select the device, or devices, that you want to change.
When you have all the devices selected, press the space bar.
The Device System dialog box (see below) will appear.
Select the appropriate system from the list and press OK.
The devices will change layer system; however, only the devices will change. If you want the circuit loops or homeruns to change layer systems, you will need to make that adjustment in the Circuiting dialog box. Follow this link for more information on how to change the circuit layer system.
