Wire, Conduit, and Breaker Modifications

Top  Previous  Next

While Design Master automatically sizes the wires, conduits, and breakers for each circuit (including fixed loads), you have the option of overriding the program's sizing specifications. The ability to set wire, conduit, and breaker sizes applies to circuits and loads of all types.

The modifications discussed on this page are found in the below portion of the Circuit Loads and Fixed Loads Input section of the Circuiting dialog box.

The following table explains each option in more detail.

Field

Function

Breaker Size

Select a new breaker size.

Conductor Amps

Select a new wire size.

Ground Wire

Select a new wire size for the ground wire.

Neutral Wire

Select a new wire size for the neutral wire.

Conduit Size

Select a new conduit size.

MCC Starter Size/Description

Sets the NEMA size for the starter from NEMA 1 to NEMA 7. Also allows additional information for the starter specifications, such as FVNR or HOA controls. Information appears only on MCC format schedule.

Layer System

Sets the layer system for the homerun and loops on the circuit.

Underground

Check this box to indicate an underground conduit run. The loops on the drawing will switch to a dashed layer to help distinguish them from above-ground wires

Starting Phase

This option will only be active for one line devices that are not panels. This can be used to balance the load.

After making any changes described above, remember to press Save Fixed at the bottom right of the Circuiting dialog box to save your changes. You will need to update the drawing. Depending on the changes you made, you may need to either redraw the homerun, update the panel schedule, or both. The drawing graphics will then match the database.
