Break Circuit

Top  Previous  Next

In order to have a clean drawing, you may wish to break a loop graphic without uncircuiting the devices connected by the loop.

To break a circuit loop, go to

DM ElectricalarrowCircuiting and HomerunsarrowBreak Circuit

On the drawing, find the loop you wish to break and click on the loop where the break should begin. Select a second point on the loop to designate where the break should end.  Design Master will automatically break the circuit loop graphic at the selected points.

Broken loops are no longer individual features on the drawing. They become part of two devices; each half of the broken loop is part of the device they are attached to. For example, in the drawing above, the left half of the broken loop is now part of the junction box on the left, while the right half of broken loop is now part of  the junction box on the right. To remove the pieces of the broken loop without deleting the devices, you must use the Erase Part of Device command.

To rejoin a loop, it is easiest to erase the broken pieces of the existing loop using the Erase Part of Device command and then replace the loop using the Loop Device Manually command.
