Enter the callout for the piece of equipment, then press OK.

Design Master will take you to the drawing and ask you to specify where you want the equipment inserted. Place both the equipment and the associated callout label. (Because each piece of equipment is unique, it is necessary to place the equipment on the drawing to save it in the database.) The program will then bring you back to the Equipment dialog box.

At this point you may define the equipment using the following fields.

Field

Sets

Panel Description

This defaults to the callout.

Show on One Line

Selecting this button allows you to show this equipment on both the plan view and in the one line diagram

Volts

The voltage of the equipment

Disconnect

The type of disconnect used on this device.  The type chosen dictates the graphics on the plan view

NEMA Rating

Select a NEMA rating for the disconnect

Ground

Whether or not the equipment requires a ground wire

Isolated Ground

Whether or not the equipment requires an isolated ground wire

Layer System

The layer system of the equipment

Total Connected Load (KVA)

Displays the total of all four connected loads in KVA

Total Demand Load (KVA)

Displays the total of all four loads in KVA after demand factors have been calculated

Total Connected Load (Amps)

Displays the total of all four connected loads in Amps

Note 1 and Note 2

Provide space for you to add notes to the equipment-these appear on the plan.

Load 1, 2, 3, and 4

These check boxes allow you to select the distribution of the total load of the equipment and designate multiple load types

Horsepower

The horsepower for a motor within the equipment. *

Connected (KVA)

Enter any non-motor loads for the device here

Demand (KVA)

The connect load after it has been modified by the demand factor

Demand Factor

This setting is governed by the load type, or can be adjusted when using a custom, kitchen, or diverse load type

Press the Save button to keep this definition, then press Exit to return to the drawing, or Insert New to create a new piece of equipment.

Design Master does not include an option to create an equipment schedule.

*For the four loads on the equipment, Design Master uses the value in the Connected KVA field. When the user selects a horsepower, Design Master calculates the corresponding Connected KVA based upon NEC Tables 430-18 and 430-150. When a new horsepower is selected, DM will calculate a new KVA.After selecting the HP, the user can override the value in the Connect KVA field if necessary. Design Master does not update the horsepower field when the KVA is overridden.
