To create a enclosed breaker or a disconnect, go to

DM ElectricalarrowOne Line DevicesarrowEnclosed Breakers/Disconnects

A Enclosed Breaker/Disconnect dialog box will appear. To actually create a new enclosed breaker, press the New button at the bottom of the dialog box. Another Enclosed Breaker/Disconnect dialog box will appear after Design Master asks you to enter the callout for the new enclosed breaker you are creating.

Listed below are all the different fields and inputs found in the dialog box above.  These fields all help to define the enclosed breaker in some way and are divided into three main categories.  The first portion focuses on the definition of the enclosed breaker itself, followed by the fault analysis information, and then the specifications of the enclosed breaker feeder wires.

General Enclosed Breaker/Disconnect Definition

Field

Sets

Total Connected KVA

Displays the current, connected KVA load on the breaker/disconnect.

Total Connected Amps

Displays the current, connected amps load on the breaker/disconnect.

Type

The type of breaker/disconnect.

Volts

The voltage for the breaker/disconnect.

Frame Size

The physical size of the breaker/disconnect.

Breaker Trip/Fuse Rating

Indicates the amp level at which the breaker/disconnect will shut off or trip.

Enclosure

The NEMA rating for the enclosure of the breaker/disconnect.

Lugs

The style of the lugs.

Plan View Block

There is only one option available when creating the plan view block, and that is Custom Rectangle.  You must define the dimensions for each breaker/disconnect individually.

Custom Dimension

Input for defining customized breaker/disconnect block sizes.

Layer System

Indicates what layering system the breaker/disconnect block will be drawn on.

Location

Field reserved for entering the physical location of the breaker/disconnect in the building.

Note 1

Creates a note that may be inserted with the breaker/disconnect on the one line diagram.

Note 2

Creates a note that may be inserted with the breaker/disconnect on the one line diagram.

Fault Analysis

Field

Sets

Feeder Length (ft)

Length of the conductor from the device feeding the breaker.  Can be automatically calculated by Design Master, or input manually.

Fault @ Breaker (amps)

The fault current at the breaker.  Can be automatically calculated by Design Master, or input manually.

AIC Rating

This is where you set the AIC Rating for the breaker.  This is set manually.  There is also a field to enter a custom AIC Rating below this one.

Feeder Specification

Field

Sets

Fed From

Displays where the breaker/disconnect is fed from.  This is set in the One Line Device Connections box.

Description in Upstream Device

How this breaker/disconnect appears in the schedule of the device feeding it.  Defaults to Callout, but may be customized.

Upstream OCP

Size of upstream breaker or fuse in the device feeding the breaker/disconnect.

Conductor Amps

Select automatic sizing for the conductors, or use this field to select a specific conductor size.

Neutral

Choose to size the neutral wire at 100% or 200% of the phase conductors, select a specific conductor, or have no neutral at all.

Ground

Choose to automatically size the ground per the NEC as a service or equipment ground, or select a specific size.

IG Conductor

Toggle on or off an Isolated Ground conductor.

Conduit Size

Choose to size the conduit automatically, or select a specific conduit size.

Size

This field displays the conduit and feeder sizes for the breaker/disconnect, based on the settings above.

The New, Copy, Save, Delete, Rename, and Find buttons work as they do for panels.
