To create a transfer switch, go to
DM Electrical One Line Devices Transfer Switches
A Transfer Switch dialog box will appear. To actually create a new transfer switch, press the New button at the bottom of the dialog box. Another Transfer Switch dialog box will appear after Design Master asks you to enter the callout for the new transfer switch you are creating.

Listed below are all the different fields and inputs found in the dialog box above. These fields all help to define the transfer switch in some way and are divided into three main categories. The first portion focuses on the definition of the transfer switch itself, followed by the fault analysis information, and then the specifications of the transfer switch feeder wires.
General Transfer Switch Definition
Field
Sets
Total Connected KVA
Displays the current, connected KVA load on the transfer switch.
Total Connected Amps
Displays the current, connected amps load on the transfer switch.
Type
Sets the type of transfer switch, automatic or manual.
Volts
The voltage for the transfer switch.
TS Amps
The amps rating for the transfer switch.
Mounting
The type of mounting for the transfer switch.
TS Neutral
Size of the neutral bus (which should not be confused with the feeder neutral conductor).
Lugs
Lug style.
TS IG Bus
Toggles whether or not the transfer switch has an IG bus.
Plan View Block
There is only one option available when creating the plan view block, and that is Custom Rectangle. You must define the dimensions for each transfer switch individually
Custom Dimension
Input for defining customized transfer switch block sizes.
Layer System
Indicates what layering system the transfer switch block will be drawn on.
Location
Field reserved for entering the physical location of the transfer switch in the building.
Note 1
Creates a note that may be inserted with the transfer switch on the one line diagram.
Note 2
Creates a note that may be inserted with the transfer switch on the one line diagram.
Fault Analysis
Field
Sets
Normal Feeder Length (ft)
Length of the conductor from the device feeding the normal side of the transfer switch. Can be automatically calculated by Design Master, or input manually.
Emergency Feeder Length (ft)
Length of the conductor from the device feeding the emergency source side of the transfer switch. Can be automatically calculated by Design Master, or input manually.
Fault @ TS (amps)
The fault current at the transfer switch, measured in amps.
TS AIC Rating
The AIC rating for the transfer switch.
Normal and Emergency Feeder Specification
Field
Sets
Fed From
Displays where the transfer switch is fed from. See the section on One Line Device Connections for more information.
Description in Upstream Device
How this transfer switch appears in the schedule of the device feeding it. Defaults to Transfer Switch Callout, but may be customized.
Upstream OCP
Size of upstream breaker or fuse in the device feeding the transfer switch.
Conductor Amps
Select automatic sizing for the conductors, or use this field to select a specific conductor size.
Neutral
Choose to size the neutral wire at 100% or 200% of the phase conductors, select a specific conductor, or have no neutral at all.
Ground
Choose to automatically size the ground per the NEC as a service or equipment ground, or select a specific size.
Conduit Size
Choose to size the conduit automatically, or select a specific conduit size.
IG Conductor
Toggle on or off an Isolated Ground conductor.
Size
This field displays the conduit and feeder sizes for the transfer switch, based on the settings above.
The New, Copy, Save, Delete, Rename, and Find buttons work as they do for panels.
