Once a device is placed on the drawing, you may wish to insert a label including certain information about the device.

To insert device labels and information on the drawing, go to

The information and options present in the dialog box will vary depending on the type of one line device selected.  The picture above is representative of a panel. The table below described the options in each column.

Column

Sets

Field

This lists the type of information available for insertion.

Prefix

This allows you to add text in front of the text shown for the Value.

Suffix

This allows you to add text behind the text shown for the Value.

Value

This is the text that will appear on the drawing if you choose to insert this field.  It can be set and edited in the dialog box where you created each device.

The below images of the Edit One line Device Labels dialog box demonstrate the usage of the prefix and suffix columns. Note in the first image, the value of the description is simply L1. In the second image, where the field has been checked indicating the user wishes this description to be entered on the drawing, the word PANEL has been typed into the prefix column. Under the value column, the value is now PANEL L1 rather than just L1. This is how the prefix and suffix column function; they add the applicable text to the value that will be displayed on the drawing.

Note that because one line device labels are not simple text but are attributes of the one line device as it is defined in the database, you may not edit the information in the value column. If you wish to change this information (other than adding a prefix or suffix for clarification of the label on the drawing), you must change the definition of the one line device.

When you have checked all the information you wish to display and added any prefixes or suffixes, press OK. Design Master will return you to the  drawing and ask you to click to select the insertion point of each piece of information individually.

To add, remove, or edit a one line device label, use the Query One Line Labels command as was discussed above. To move or rotate a one line device label once it is on the drawing, use the AutoCAD grips functions.
