Coordinate Receptacles with Database

Top  Previous  Next

It is possible for the AutoCAD drawings and the external database to become out of sync. In particular, this can occur if you have closed a drawing without saving the changes that have been made, because the changes you make are automatically saved in the database, so if you have not saved them in the drawing as well, your drawing and database will not match. When this occurs, the Coordinate Receptacles with Database command will fix any inconsistencies. This command works in the same way as the Coordinate Drawing and Database command in Design Master, so running the Coordinate Receptacles with Database command will coordinate all devices on the drawing and in the database rather than exclusively coordinating low voltage devices.

To coordinate the drawing and the database, go to

The Select Drawings dialog box will open.

Coordinate_Drawing_Database

The default is to select the drawing currently. It is possible to use the control or shift keys to select multiple drawings and run the coordinate command on all of them at the same time. If at any point you have un-selected the drawing you currently have open and wish to re-select it, you may press the Select Open Drawing button to select the drawing you currently have open in addition to any drawings you have clicked on.

The coordinate command performs a number of functions:

Devices (including receptacles) on the drawing are added to the database.
Devices (including receptacles) in the database are added to the drawing. If the command causes a device to be inserted directly on top of another device, the new device is displaced slightly so you may examine the two devices and erase the unneeded device.
Devices (including receptacles) in both the drawing and the database are reviewed to ensure consistency of location.
Any changes to the light fixture schedule, such as new graphics for a light fixture callout, are made in the drawing.
Any changes to the receptacle schedule, such as new graphics for a receptacle type, are made in the drawing.

When this command is finished, the drawing and the database will match. All devices on the drawing will accurately reflect the information stored in the database.

Devices reinserted on the drawing from the database will be highlighted with lines from the origin to their insertion point. These devices should be examined by you to determine if they should be kept or not. If you do not want to keep them, use the standard AutoCAD erase command to remove them from the drawing.

The coordinate lines can be removed either using the erase command and selecting the coordinate lines, or by using the Erase Coordinate Lines command.
