Installing Updates

These instructions are for customers who are already running Design Master Electrical 6 or 7 and need to install an update.

Upgrading to Electrical 7.1

Download and run the Design Master Electrical install file.

Install it to the location to which you previously installed Design Master Electrical.

Do not check the box that says "Load menus in AutoCAD" because the menus are already installed from the previous version of Design Master Electrical.

It is necessary for AutoCAD to be closed during the update. If Design Master Electrical is installed on a network, all of the computers on the network with it loaded need to have AutoCAD closed.

If an error occurs during the installation process saying that a file cannot be overwritten, it is most likely the result of a copy of AutoCAD that is still loaded. Once AutoCAD has been closed, you can continue the installation.

None of your existing customization will be overwritten during the installation process.

If you do not have administrative privileges on your computer, you can download and run the No-Admin Design Master Electrical install file instead. This file should only be used if the regular install file does not work.

Upgrading Existing Projects

There is a manual step required when upgrading existing projects. You need to convert your wire sizing impedance values to reactance and resistance.

Design Master HVAC and Design Master Plumbing

If you are running Design Master HVAC or Design Master Plumbing, you will need to install updates to those programs at the same time as you install the update to Design Master Electrical.

Upgrading Components on Other Computers

These instructions are only necessary if you are running Design Master Electrical on more than one computer.

The first time you upgrade to Design Master Electrical 7.1, you need to update the Design Master Components installed on the other computers. You only need to do this once. If already have 7.1 installed and are installing a patch, you do not need to do this again.

To install the components, download and run the Design Master Components file once on each computer.
