Create One-Line Block from Entities

The Create One-Line Block from Entities command is used to create a block that can be used in your one-line diagram. You use specific entities on the current drawing to create the block.

To create the block, go to

DM Electrical->Customization->Block Creation->Create One-Line Block from Entities

You will be prompted whether the block will be used as a feeder wire block.

Is this block going to be used as a feeder wire block? Yes / No

Yes: The block will be a feeder wire block. Feeder wire blocks are able to be inserted at the ends or in the middle of feeders. The block can also be used to represent other one-line devices or equipment connections on the one-line diagram.

No: The block will not be a feeder wire block. The block can only be used to represent other one-line devices or equipment connections on the one-line diagram. It cannot be used in a feeder.

You will be prompted to select the entities to use in the block.

Select entities to use in the one-line diagram block:
Select objects:

You will be asked if the entities should be moved to layer 0.

Do you want to move the entities to layer 0? Yes / No

Yes: The selected entities will be moved to layer 0. Select this option if you are unsure which option to choose.

No: The selected entities will remain on the layer they currently are on.

See the AutoCAD help for more information on setting layers in blocks.

Feeder Wire Block, No: If the block is not a feeder wire block, you will be prompted whether or not the block has any upstream connection points.

Does this block have an upstream connection point? Yes / No

Yes: You will be prompted to specify the location of the upstream connection point. This is the point that the feeder from the upstream device will connect to by default.

Specify upstream connection point:

You will be prompted whether or not the block has a second upstream connection point. The second point is used for the second upstream connection on transfer switches and UPSs.

Does this block have a second upstream connection point? Yes / No

Yes: You will be prompted to specify the location of the second upstream connection point.

Specify second upstream connection point:

No: The block will not have a second upstream connection point.

No: The block will not have an upstream connection point. If an upstream connection is required on the one-line diagram, it will connect to the insertion point of the block.

Feeder Wire Block, Yes: If the block is a feeder wire block, you will be prompted to specify the location of the upstream connection point. This is the point that the feeder from the upstream device will connect to by default.

Specify upstream connection point:

Feeder Wire Block, No: If the block is not a feeder wire block, you will be prompted whether or not the block has a downstream connection point. This is the point that the feeder to the downstream device will connect to by default.

Does this block have a downstream connection point? Yes / No

Yes: You will be prompted to specify the location of the downstream connection point. This is the point that the feeder to the downstream device will connect to by default.

Specify downstream connection point:

No: The block will not have an downstream connection point. If a downstream connection is required on the one-line diagram, it will connect to the insertion point of the block.

Feeder Wire Block, Yes: If the block is a feeder wire block, you will be prompted to specify the location of the downstream connection point. This is the point that the feeder to the downstream device will connect to by default.

Specify downstream connection point:

If the block is a feeder wire block, you will be prompted to specify the mirroring point. This point is displayed as a grip when the block is inserted. It is used to flip the block over the feeder line.

Specify mirroring point:

You will be prompted to enter where to save the block file. The default folder location will be the electrical customization folder.

You will be prompted to create a slide for the block. The slide is used in the device dialog boxes to display the graphics.

Do you want to create a slide for this block now? Yes / No

Yes: You will create a slide for the block.

You will be prompted to select a color for the block in the slide.

Please select a color for the main block.

You will be prompted to insert the block on the drawing. Insert the block in a empty location on the drawing. Any other entities that end up in the area you make the slide from will be included in the slide.

Insert the block on the drawing to create the slide.
The block will be erased after the slide is made.
Specify insertion point:
Specify rotation angle <0>:

You will be prompted to draw a box around the block. The box will define the area used to create the slide.

Specify first corner of slide:
Specify second corner:

No: You will not be prompted to create a slide and the command will be finished.
