Insert Indoor Lighting Level Report

The Insert Indoor Lighting Level Report command is used to display the lighting levels in each room in the project.

To insert the indoor lighting level report on the drawing, go to

DM Electrical->Light Fixtures->Insert Indoor Lighting Level Report

Schedule Notes: A note that will appear below the schedule when inserted on the drawing.

Maximum Schedule Height: Whether or not the schedule has a maximum height. This height is inches on the printed page.

If this is not checked, the schedule will be in a single schedule.

If this is checked, you can specify the maximum height of the schedule. When the schedule exceeds this height, it will be continued in a second schedule next to the first. The label of the second schedule will have the Schedule Title Continued Label option added to it to indicate that it is a continuation of the first schedule. See the Options->Schedules section for more information.

Specify on Drawing: Press this button to specify the Maximum Schedule Height on the drawing. The dialog box will be closed and you will be prompted to specify the height.

Specify maximum schedule height:

The distance that you enter on the drawing will be used as the maximum height. It is simplest to draw a line straight down to where the bottom of the schedule should be located.

Zoom to Schedule After Insertion: If this box is checked, the display will be moved to the schedule location after it has been inserted or updated. Check this box if you are having difficulty locating your schedule on a busy drawing.

Inserting or Updating the Schedule on the Drawing

To insert or update the lighting level report, run the command.

Inserting the Report the First Time

If the indoor lighting level report is not currently inserted on the drawing, you will be prompted for the insertion location of the report.

Specify insertion point for indoor lighting level report:

The location you specify will be used as the top-left corner of the report.

The report includes the following columns. These columns can not be modified or reordered.

Room Number: The room number for the room. See the Edit Rooms section for more information.

Room Type: The type of the room, taken from the Room Project Schedule. See the Edit Rooms section for more information.

FC Desired: The desired lighting level for the room, measured in footcandles. The value is based upon the value specified in the room itself or in the room type. See the Edit Rooms section for more information.

FC Actual: The actual lighting level in the room, measured in footcandles.

FC Actual = Total Lumens * Coefficient of Utilization * Lamp Depreciation * Dirt Depreciation / Area

Total Lumens: The total lumens for all the light fixtures in the room. The light fixtures in the room are based upon the light fixtures inserted on the drawing. The lumens for each light fixture is based upon the Number of Lamps and Lumens / Lamp values set in the Light Fixture Project Schedule.

Coefficient of Utilization: If the IES file associated with the light fixture callout is well-formed, it can be used to calculated the coefficient of utilization. It is based upon the IES file (set in the Light Fixture Project Schedule section for more information), the room cavity ratio based upon the room outline inserted on the drawing, and the Wall Cavity Reflectance, Effective Ceiling Cavity Reflectance, and Effective Floor Cavity Reflectance (see the Edit Rooms and Room Project Schedule sections for more information).

If the IES file is not well-formed and cannot be used to calculated the coefficient of utilization, or there is no IES file, then a default value of 0.7 is used.

Dirt Depreciation: See the Edit Rooms and Room Project Schedule sections for more information.

Area: The area of the room based upon the room outline inserted on the drawing.

RCR: The room cavity ratio of the room.

RCR = (Ceiling Height - Workspace Height) * Perimeter * 2.5 / Area

Workspace Height: See the Edit Rooms and Room Project Schedule sections for more information.

Perimeter: The perimeter of the room based upon the room outline inserted on the drawing.

Area: The area of the room based upon the room outline inserted on the drawing.

CU: The coefficient of utilization of the room. This value includes the coefficient of utilization for the light fixtures and all depreciation factors.

CU = Coefficient of Utilization * Lamp Depreciation * Dirt Depreciation

Watts / SF: The power density of the room, measured in watts per square foot.

Area: The area of the room, measured in square feet.

Total Watts: The total lighting load in the room, measured in watts.

Updating the Schedule Already on the Drawing

If the indoor lighting level report is already inserted on the drawing, it will be updated when you run the DM Electrical->Light Fixtures->Insert Indoor Lighting Level Report command.
