Roof Type: The name of the roof type.

U-Value: The heat transfer coefficient of the roof.

ASHRAE Wall Type: The type of wall used to determine the rate of solar heat transfer through the wall. The CLTD method is based upon 15 different walls types, numbered from 1 to 16 (skipping 8). The walls are roughly ordered so that type 1 is the lightest construction and type 16 is the heaviest. Heat is transferred more quickly through light walls. Heavy walls absorb the heat and release it into more slowly into the room.

The wall types are defined in Table 33A in 1997 ASHRAE Fundamentals Handbook, pages 28.46 - 28.48.

Color: The color of the roof. It is recommended by the CLTD method that you choose Dark and not adjust the wall load based upon the color.

Light: The wall is a light color. The cooling load will be scaled by 50% when this color is selected.
Dark: The wall is a dark color. The cooling load will be taken directly from the CLTD table with no scaling.

Description: A longer description of the roof type. Displayed when selecting the roof type and in the Roof Types table of the Building Definition print out.
