Creating Rooms

Top  Previous  Next

In order to calculate indoor photometric data, Design Master requires you to define the rooms you wish to calculate, regardless of the type of background received from the architect.

To create a room, go to

DM ElectricalarrowBuilding DefinitionarrowCreate Room

The Create New Room dialog box will appear.

Enter the room number for the room Design Master should create, select a room type, then a floor.

Press Create Room.

Design Master will take you back to the drawing and prompt you to "specify first room point. This is indicating that you now need to draw the room. The program draws the room one wall at a time rather than assuming the room is a rectangle. This allows you to create odd-shaped rooms easily. Because of this, you may wish to use AutoCAD Snaps to accurately trace the architectural floor plan, or you may draw the room free hand. When you have finished placing all the walls of the room, press ENTER to indicate the room has been created. The walls of created rooms will be green, as seen in the image below.

Design Master will keep you in the drawing and you will see a prompt to “specify room info location”. At this time, you may click to indicate the desired location of the box containing the room information. You may place the box anywhere on the drawing. If you place the box outside of the room, a leader will connect the room and the information box. The image below also depicts the information box with a leader.
