Block Creation

Blocks must be properly configured before they can be used in Design Master Electrical. There are two different types of blocks that you can create in Design Master:

•

Plan View Blocks: These blocks are used for light fixtures, receptacles, equipment, junction boxes, switches, and one line device plan view blocks. There are two commands, Create Plan View Block from Entities and Create Plan View Block from This Drawing that are used for creating blocks of this type.

•	One Line Blocks: These block are used for components in one line diagrams. There are two commands, Create One Line Block from Entities and Create One Line Block from This Drawing that are used for creating blocks of this type.

When creating either plan view and one line blocks, there are three steps.

1.	Create the block.

2.	Create a slide of the block.

3.	Add the block to the appropriate project or master list.

This section will deal with the first two steps. Details for the third step can be found under the various blocks sections below.

Create the Block

There are two ways that you can create a block. It can either be created from a set of entities in the current drawing using the from Entities commands or as an entire drawing using the from This Drawing commands. The result of both commands is a drawing which contains only the block. This block must be placed in one of the folders listed in your AutoCAD support path. The default location is the Electrical Customization folder which Design Master creates under the main Design Master Software directory.
