Creating Custom Load Types

Top  Previous  Next

Design Master allows you to create two custom load types in each project. This allows you to more accurately track certain loads in your design. To create a custom load type, open the Design Master Electrical Options dialog box.

DM ElectricalarrowCustomizationarrowOptionsarrowEdit Project List

Expand the Miscellaneous section of the Design Master Electrical Options dialog box.

Custom load types have three settings:

Name: The name of the custom load type. It is displayed when selecting the load type of a device and it is printed on the one line device schedule load summary.
Calculation Method: The method of calculating the load. There are three settings:
Fixed Demand Factor: The demand factor for the load is constant and fixed. Most of the default load types are fixed.
Variable Demand Factor: The demand factor varies depending upon the load. The kitchen and diverse load types are examples of this.
Variable Calculated Load: The demand factor varies, but the calculated load is input, rather than the demand factor.
Demand Factor: This is only used when the Calculation Method is set to Fixed Demand Factor. It is the demand factor that is applied to all loads of this type. This row is disabled if the Calculation Method is Variable.

If the name of the custom load type is not blank, it will be listed in the load type field for equipment and receptacles.

The custom load type will also appear in your one line device schedules.
