Edit Single After Insertion

Top  Previous  Next

Once a receptacle has been inserted onto a drawing, you can adjust the location or modify the receptacle if needed. To move, copy, rotate, mirror, array, or erase a receptacle, standard AutoCAD commands may be used.

There are two ways to change the system layer of the receptacle. One is to change the system layer by querying the device.  The other is to follow the same procedure for changing the system layer that you would for any device in Design Master.

The internal definitions of a receptacle may be redefined after they are inserted. First, to view a receptacle's definitions use the Query Device feature.

DM ElectricalarrowModify DevicesarrowQuery Device.

Click on the receptacle you want to query.

Design Master will display the information in the database regarding the selected receptacle by bringing up the Insert and Edit Receptacles dialog box.

Once the dialog box is open, make any desired changes by selecting the active check boxes or pull-down menus and press Save to store all the changes. Certain definitions of the receptacle cannot be edited on a case by case basis when inserting receptacles. This is because the intent is for the receptacle schedule to define the physical characteristics of a receptacle to the extent it could be used to purchase the receptacles. By way of example, it would not be possible to modify a 120V receptacle to become a 480V receptacle. Thus, changing the voltage of a receptacle defined in the schedule is not allowed.

Design Master will update the database and the drawing to reflect the new values for the receptacle that was queried, including circuit loads for receptacles already circuited to a panel.

The Insert and Edit Receptacles dialog box will reappear, allowing the user to continue to make changes to individual receptacles by using the Select from Drawing button to select single receptacles or to insert additional receptacles using theInsert New button.

When you have finished editing individual receptacles and wish to return to the drawing, press the Exit button.
