Worksharing With FireBIM

When using FireBIM on projects that have worksharing enabled, certain commands operate differently to accommodate those workflows.

Edit Commands​

In the Panel Edit, Device Edit, and Circuit Edit commands, if the selected device or circuit is currently checked out by another user, editing will be disabled. You will not be able to modify that device or circuit until it has been relinquished.

Calculating​

In the Update Whole Project and Update Part of Project commands, there will be an option to run the Revit Synchronize Now and Relinquish All Mine commands once the calculation completes. This can be helpful if you plan to run the calculation unattended.

If parts of the fire alarm system are checked out by another user, after the calculation finishes, the Modification Conflicts dialog box will open.

This dialog box lists any devices or circuits that could not be updated or accounted for during the calculation. FireBIM drafting view elements such as riser diagram graphics are also included. The button can be used to find each element in the model or on a drafting view.

The User ☰ borrowing each element is included so you know who to ask about relinquishing control of that element.

When drafting view elements are checked out, they will not be updated when recalculating. When model elements are checked out, FireBIM will calculate "around" them; in other words, when performing calculations affected by settings on those checked-out elements, such as voltage drop, FireBIM will use the last known settings on those elements. The Last Modified Date ☰ indicates the last time FireBIM was last able to update that element. You can use this information to assess how accurate your riser diagram and calculations will be.

For example, if you have not made significant changes to an element or to other elements affecting it since its Last Modified Date ☰, your calculations and drafting views will likely remain accurate. However, if significant changes were made since that time, it could cause incorrect riser diagram graphics and labels and inaccurate voltage drop and battery calculations.
