Background Information
This section explains terms and underlying concepts you will encounter while using FireBIM, as well as expectations for how to use some Revit features in your fire alarm design.
📄️ Fire Alarm Design Basics in Revit
If you're not used to fully designing your fire alarm systems in Revit, here are the concepts you'll need to know to work with Revit and FireBIM.
📄️ Fire Alarm Family Core Library
The FireBIM installer includes a core library of fire alarm panel and device model families that are already configured for use with the add-in.
📄️ Making Changes: Don't Modify the Shared Parameters
When using FireBIM, make changes to the model using the Panel Edit, Circuit Edit, and Device Edit commands.
📄️ Draw Wires for Circuits on Plan Views
You can use the Revit Systems→Wire commands to draw wires between circuited devices on plan views. FireBIM determines device ordering on circuits using those drawn wires.
📄️ Ribbon Tabs
All of the commands for FireBIM are on ribbon tabs labeled FireBIM Design and FireBIM Riser.
