Installing FireBIM
This section describes how to install FireBIM.
Visit the System Requirements page to make sure you can use the software before installing.
If you are a current user installing an update to the software, follow the Installing an Update instructions.
- Download and run the latest FireBIM installer.

Close Revit before you run the installer.
- After the installer has finished, open a project or family in Revit. You should see a FireBIM Design ribbon and a FireBIM Riser ribbon.
The first time you run a command, you will be asked to install your license. You have three options:
- To begin a trial of the software, press the button.
The trial is fully featured and not time-limited. Some FireBIM outputs will randomly be replaced with FireBIM or -1 watermarks until a license is installed. - To purchase a license, press the button.
- If you already have a license, press the button, enter your License ID and Activation Password in the fields provided, and press the button.

If you do not know your license ID and password, visit the License Key Request page to have them emailed to you.
What Is Included in the Installer
When you run the FireBIM installer, in addition to the system files needed to run FireBIM, the following files and libraries will be installed in the locations listed:
- Detail item families for the riser diagram, stored in
C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Design Master Software\FireBIMwhere<User Name>is the name you use to log in to your computer; - Annotation tags for plan views and the riser diagram, stored in
C:\ProgramData\Design Master Software\FireBIM\Content\Tags; - FireBIM Shared Parameters.txt—used to add FireBIM shared parameters to your families, projects, and schedules—stored in
C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Design Master Software\FireBIMandC:\ProgramData\Design Master Software\FireBIM\Content; - A core library of fire alarm panel and device model families, stored in
C:\ProgramData\Design Master Software\FireBIM\Content\Model Families\Generic
Backups of the files listed above will also be installed and stored in C:\Program Files\Design Master Software\FireBIM. Additionally, the folder C:\ProgramData\Design Master Software\FireBIM\Content will be added to your list of Revit places, visible on the left side of Revit's Open and Load dialog boxes, to provide quick access to the files in that folder.
The first time you run the FireBIM installer, it will also download and install a cache of riser diagram graphic families for different Revit versions. This cache installation is optional; if you opt out, the cache will be generated as you use FireBIM in your projects. Installing an Update
Download and run the latest FireBIM installer. For information about the latest version, visit the release notes page.
Close Revit before you run the installer.
Your existing customization will not be overwritten during the update.
Your license will remain the same. You do not need to install or update the license when you update the software.
