What Can AquaBIM Do?
AquaBIM connects your AI agent to your Revit model via MCP. The MCP is self-documenting: AquaBIM provides your agent with a description of each tool it offers, what that tool does, and how the tools work together. Because that description comes from the version of AquaBIM you have installed, it stays current as AquaBIM is updated.
The best way to find out what AquaBIM can do is to ask your agent.
Asking Your Agent
After you have configured your agent using the Configure AI Agent command, start a new agent session and try prompts like these:
- "What can you do with AquaBIM?"
- "Which AquaBIM tools can make changes to my model?"
- "How would you use AquaBIM to check my piping systems for problems?"
Your agent can only make changes to the model if 🔘 Model Access is set to Allow model changes in the Configure AI Agent dialog box. With View model only selected, your agent can still read and report on information in the model.
Example Prompts
The prompts below are examples of the kinds of tasks you can ask your agent to do. They are a starting point, not a complete list.
Reviewing the Model
- "List the piping systems in this project and whether each one is fully connected."
- "Find any pipe connectors in this model that aren't connected to anything."
- "Check for clashes between piping and structural framing on Level 3."
- "Trace the domestic hot water system served by WH-1 and list the plumbing fixtures connected to it."
- "Summarize the Revit warnings in this project that involve plumbing elements."
- "List the total fixture units on each sanitary system in this project."
Making Changes
- "Lay out a 4-inch sanitary main along gridline B on Level 1, sloped at 1/4 inch per foot, then connect each water closet in the restroom to the main."
- "Lay out the domestic cold water piping for the Level 2 restrooms using placeholder pipes. Once I've reviewed the layout, convert the placeholders to real piping."
- "Add a ball valve to each branch pipe serving the lavatories in Room 104."
- "Create a schedule of total pipe length by system and size."
- "Set the Comments parameter of every plumbing fixture on Level 4 to 'Phase 2'."
- "Resize the fittings on the pipe run I have selected to match the connected pipes."
- "Create a sheet for each plumbing floor plan view and place the view on it."
The same way you would review other people's work, review changes your agent makes before relying on them.
Each change your agent makes is added to Revit's undo history, so you can reverse it using the Revit Undo command. A single request can involve several changes, each of which is undone separately.
