ElectroBIM 2.9August 27, 2026

The following is a list of new and updated features in ElectroBIM 2.9.

MCP Server

Connect your AI assistant directly to ElectroBIM inside Revit, allowing you to talk to Revit and ElectroBIM in plain language.

What is an MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the emerging standard that lets AI assistants like Claude securely connect to real software and act inside it, not just chat about it. Our MCP server is the bridge that gives your AI assistant hands-on access to your live Revit model through ElectroBIM.

Why it matters

Instead of clicking through dialogs, hunting for the right command, or remembering exactly how a workflow goes, you describe what you want and your assistant does it in your actual project. It reads your model, makes the changes, and reports back.

What you can do with it

  • Design circuits and panels by conversation; create panels, build and balance circuits, add loads, and recalculate.
  • Query your model instantly, for example: “which devices are in this room?”, “what’s upstream of this panel?”, “list every circuit over 80% loaded.”
  • Place and edit families, tag elements, move and copy across levels, and set parameters in bulk.
  • Trace power up and down the distribution tree without manually walking the model.

How it benefits you

  • Faster: collapse multi-step tasks into a single request.
  • Fewer errors: let the assistant handle the repetitive, easily mistaken steps while it recalculates as it goes.
  • You stay in control: every action happens in your model, in front of you, and can be undone.

Other Improvements

  • Specify single-line diagram graphic groups in the Project Options and various Edit commands. This change compartmentalizes the available graphics lists, making them easier to read and choose from.
  • In the Instance Edit command, see both the family and type names in the instance list.
  • Change the family type for branch circuit devices directly in the Instance Edit command, without having to find and modify the device instance in the Revit model.
  • Rename family types directly in the Family Edit command.
  • When selecting single-line diagram devices with the Add/Modify Graphic command, use the displayed model family name and type to determine the appropriate graphic.
  • Added support for Plumbing Equipment.
