Inserting Meters on the Single-Line Diagram
What's the process to add a meter to my single-line diagram?
ElectroBIM does not have a distinct workflow for adding meters. They can be added to single-line diagram feeder segments the same way as any other feeder graphic, as explained below. This article also briefly describes how you can add meters to distribution equipment graphics that include a bus.
On Feeder Segments
To add a meter to a feeder segment on your single-line diagram, use the Add/Modify Graphic command. In the default ElectroBIM customization, there is a feeder graphic Group ▾ named Meter, which contains a set of meter graphics you can insert. For an example of this workflow, visit the Modifying Graphics section of the ElectroBIM tutorial.
On Distribution Equipment Buses
Because bus bars are embedded into the distribution equipment graphic, you cannot use the
Draft a Meter Manually
The simplest way to add a meter to a bus bar is to manually draft one over it using the Circuit Insert command:
- Run the Circuit Insert command, then press ESC to draft a circuit not connected to the model.
- Set OCP Group ▾ to Meter.
- Set OCP Graphic ☰ to your preferred meter graphic.
- Set OCP Type ☰ to the same line type as the bus (by default, Medium Solid for new and Light Solid for existing).
- Set ID Graphic ☰ to None.
- Press the button to close the dialog box and draft the circuit.
- Specify starting and ending points along the bus bar section where you want the meter inserted. Make sure the points are far enough apart to accommodate the meter graphic.
- Press ESC to finish the command. You may need to adjust the meter's location to line up properly.
Add a Meter to the Distribution Equipment Graphic Family
To add a meter that functions as part of the bus bar, it must be added to the distribution equipment graphic family itself using standard Revit functionality. You can embed one of the ElectroBIM meter graphic families into the family, or draft a meter using Revit detail lines. You can also use parameters and Revit's visibility features to create toggles for the meter.
