Modifying a Branch Circuit Device Family

How to work with branch circuit device families.

Start in the FIRST FLOOR POWER floor plan.

Modify the Family for the Elevator Motor​

  1. Select the elevator motor and run the Revit Modify | Electrical Equipment→  Edit Family command. The family file will open.

  2. Run the ElectroBIM Design→  Family Edit command. The Family Edit dialog box will open.

  3. Make the following changes to the family:

    1. In the Family Settings section, set Device Type ▾ to Branch circuit device: Equipment connection.
    2. Set MOCP to 40.
    3. Set OCP Trip ▾ to Motor-compressor, <= MOCP.
    4. Set Conductor ▾ to Size based upon loads.
  4. Press the button to close the dialog box.

  5. Run the Revit Create / ElectroBIM Design→  Load into Project /  Load into Project and Close command to update the family and its parameter values in the project.

    note

    You do not need to save the family file, but if you do not save, the parameters will only be used for this project.

Modify the Elevator Motor​

  1. Open the Panel Schedule for panel E.

  2. Select circuit 1 on the panel schedule and run the ElectroBIM Design→  Instance Edit command. The Instance Edit dialog box will open for the elevator motor on the circuit.

  3. Set OCP Trip ▾ and Conductor ▾ to Family default.

  4. Press the button to close the dialog box. The Trip value for the circuit will update on the panel schedule to reflect the values set in the family.

  5. Select circuit 1 on the panel schedule and run the ElectroBIM Design→  Instance Edit command. The Instance Edit dialog box will open for the elevator motor on the circuit.

  6. Set OCP Trip ▾ to 70.

  7. Press the button to close the dialog box. The Trip value for the circuit will update on the panel schedule to reflect the value set in the family being overridden by the value set in the instance.
