Controlling Ability to Customize Master Schedules

Posted on November 19th, 2013. Last updated on June 14th, 2023.

Design Master does not have a built-in method for controlling who can modify the customization in the master and standards databases. If you want to limit the ability of your users to make changes, you need to use standard Windows permissions settings.

The customization folder on the network needs to be set to read-write for all Design Master users. This requirement is necessary because the Jet database driver that we use needs to be able to create a temporary lock file in the folder when it opens the database.

The specific database files can be set to read-only for certain users. This will prevent them from making any changes to the files.
