The latest Electrical Building Design Show is a little different and will be the first in what we hope are many interesting interviews with individuals in the BIM space. In "Finding & Training New Electrical Engineers", David Robison speaks with Sam Miller of the Building Engineer Training Institute (BETI) about the state of recruitment, training, and retention in the engineering industry.
As of this publication, all episodes are available to view on the Electrical Building Design Show Playlist. If there are any you've missed, please go back through the playlist and catch whatever you would like to watch.
The next episode will premiere on Wednesday, October 1st, so be sure to visit the Design Master YouTube channel and subscribe for notifications of new releases.
For those who preferaudio podcasts instead, there’s a version of the show in that format also. It’s carried on all the major podcast channels (Spotify, Apple, Google, Amazon, etc.), and can be found by searching for the show by name.
If you're attending, we hope you'll stop by booth #341 to see us. We'll be there to talk electrical engineering, answer questions, provide demos of our ElectroBIM add-in for Revit, and offer a first look at our upcoming FireBIM fire alarm design solution for Revit.
Mark your calendar, and don’t forget to visit booth #341 during the show.
FireBIM Update
Do you want to see FireBIM in action? We will be showing off our new fire alarm add-in for Revit for the first time at this year's Autodesk University in Nashville. The software isn't completely done yet, but we'll be giving demonstrations of it during the show on the 16th-18th.
For any of you who are planning to attend Autodesk University this year, we hope you'll stop by booth 341 and take a look at our latest and greatest product.
If you've not already signed up to be notified regarding FireBIM for Revit, we hope you'll take a moment to do so now.
The following changes have been made to the knowledge base in the past month:
General
We streamlined the user manuals for both ElectroBIM and DM Photometrics.
Topics that were previously available in certain sections ("Getting Started" and "Advanced Topics" for ElectroBIM, "Concepts and Procedures" for DM Photometrics) have been either removed or moved to other areas of documentation.
A Mid-Project Quick Reference tutorial was created to act as a quick refresher of what to do when introducing EBIM into a project where work had already been done without ElectroBIM.
ElectroBIM
New Articles
ElectroBIM & Load Calculations: ElectroBIM does not affect how loads are populated or calculated in Revit. Here are some resources that may help.
International Code Compatibility: While ElectroBIM was designed specifically for the NEC, it can be made mostly compatible with international codes.
Generators in ElectroBIM: Neither Revit nor ElectroBIM has settings specifically for generators, but you can approximate them using transformers.
Creating a Revit Feeder Schedule: You can create a feeder schedule separate from the single-line diagram using ElectroBIM shared parameters and standard Revit functionality.
Updated Articles
Neutrals: New wire sizing functionality in Revit 2026 changed how ElectroBIM checks whether branch circuits should include a neutral. This article has been updated to include the new workflow.
