For this month's Electrical Building Design Show, we look at the release of the latest Revit 2027 version. This is one of our most popular yearly videos, and in "Revit 2027: What's New for Electrical Engineers?", David Robison explores Revit’s new electrical features and tools. See what's been added or is missing and how electrical engineers can get the most from this new version.
As of this publication, all episodes are available to view on the Electrical Building Design Show Playlist. If there are any you have missed, please go back through the playlist and catch whatever you would like to watch.
The next episode will premiere on Monday, May 4th, so be sure to visit the Design Master YouTube channel and subscribe for notifications of new releases.
For those who preferaudio podcasts instead, there is a version of the show in that format also. It is carried on all the major podcast channels (Spotify, Apple, Google, Amazon, etc.), and can be found by searching for the show by name.
AI Comes to ElectroBIM
We're pleased to announce a new beta feature for ElectroBIM, and with it, one of the most exciting features we've ever developed: AI-powered design review.
With the press of a button, you can now send your electrical distribution model to an AI that analyzes your panels, transformers, switchboards, and feeders, then hands you back a polished review report. Think of it as having a sharp-eyed colleague do a thorough QA pass on your work, automatically.
Tuesday, April 7th at 1:30 PM Eastern / 10:30 AM Pacific, we'll be doing a live Zoom webinar providing an overview and quick training on the new ElectroBIM AI design review feature. Access to the webinar is available on the page linked below.
The beta includes two tools conveniently located on the ElectroBIM ribbon:
Design Review: This does all the heavy lifting for you: it exports your model, runs the analysis, and opens a formatted report in your browser that you can save and share.
Export for AI: This gives power users (or those operating under strict security conditions) the flexibility to take that same model data into their own copy of ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI tool of their choice for custom deep-dives.
The current design review beta focuses on panels, transformers, and feeders, with more elements on the way. We'd love for you to take it for a spin and let us know what you think.
On March 3rd, our president, David Robison hosted a live webinar introducing FireBIM, walking attendees through its capabilities and demonstrating what a fully integrated fire alarm design workflow in Revit looks like in practice.
FireBIM is a Revit add-in that brings fire alarm design fully into the BIM environment and addresses one of the most persistent coordination challenges in the industry by unifying device layouts, model-driven riser diagrams, and in-model voltage drop and battery calculations into a single, connected Revit workflow.
If you couldn’t join Dave live, a recording of the webinar is available to watch at your convenience, and we encourage you to do so. We also invite you to download the beta to experience it firsthand and help provide feedback on its features.
Now is a great time to get hands-on with the tool, explore its capabilities, and share your feedback as we continue to refine the product ahead of full release.
