Solar/Photovoltaic Systems in Design Master Electrical

Posted on February 2nd, 2023. Last updated on June 13th, 2023.

Q: How do I model a solar array using Design Master Electrical for AutoCAD?

A: Design Master does not perform any calculations for DC distribution systems, including solar arrays. You will need to use a different program to perform calculations for that part of your design.

Once you know any two of the total kVA, kW, and power factor of the array, use the Generators command to define the entire array as a generator.

To add your solar array to the one-line diagram, you can:

  • Insert the array with one of the Design Master generator blocks or other equipment blocks
  • Create a custom one-line diagram block for the solar array, then insert the array using that block
  • Insert the array with the “Dot” block, then use AutoCAD tools to draft the graphics for the array manually
