Revit does not handle bus ducts well. There are a few different ways you can model them, each with different tradeoffs. We explore the options that are available and how the options impact single-line diagrams and calculations in ElectroBIM.
We look at the following topics for bus ducts:
- The difficulties of modeling bus ducts in Revit (00:30)
- Conceptualizing how to model bus ducts using the Electrical Design Triangle (01:06)
- Connecting subfeed panels directly to the bus duct in the model (05:50)
- Connecting subfeed panels to nodes being fed by the bus duct in the model (19:05)
We also answer the following questions:
- “What happens if custom feeders use the same Feeder ID but have different callouts?” (23:07)
- “If I need to see how load changes on one panel affect the voltage drop on the other panels, how should I model by bus duct connections?” (23:53)
- “How would I model bus ducts that are different ampacities at different sections?” (25:04)
- “Can custom callouts be predefined at the project level?” (28:04)
